Led by Madchen Ly and Christine Uhalde's top-3 finishes, the Fresno State women's golf team captured its first tournament victory of the season at the Cowgirl Desert Intercollegiate in Palm Springs.
Ly (Clovis High) rattled off five birdies en route to a 2-under 70 and a 1-over 217 (70-77-70) total. She finished in second, one stroke behind medalist Kathy Boehm of Charleston. Uhalde led after the first two rounds but closed with a 78 to finish third at 218.
The Bulldogs set a tournament record with a 21-over 885 (291-289-305).
"This team has worked really hard and to get a win today is outstanding," coach Angie Cates-Moore said in a statement.
